Destroy Everything You Touch

I watched the The September Issue several times while in Taipei, it kept me entertained as I took a one hour ride into town on the train everyday. I really enjoy watching fashion films and documentaries like this (I'm not a movie person at all but I do manage to sit through documentaries - that makes me sound extremely boring!), I highly recommend if you haven't seen it yet. Anyways, I love this song by Ladytron that's played in bits throughout the film, I don't really understand the meaning of the song but it's catchy all the same!

Big Me

Was tidying up and throwing more stuff out last night when I found my old Foo Fighters music dvd of their Skin And Bones concert. Haven't watched in ages and this is one of my favourite songs on it. I always love the harmony of male and female vocals together.

Locomotive

I quite like this song from the Urban Outfitter's Music Mondays collection. It's such a catchy song and good whenever you need a little lift me up on one of those blah days! Keep goin' keep goin' slow down...

Your Personal Religion

Was listening to Sophie Hunger's "1983" album today, and then I was searching YouTube and came across this version of "Your Personal Religion". It's quite different to the original but it's pretty amazing - I absolutely love her voice, the musicians, the instrumental and there is so much intensity and energy towards the end. It must be fun to be in a band. Well these guys look like they're having fun!

Time Is Contagious

I love this song so much on the Later with Jools Holland album. I think the vocals of Damien Rice and Lisa Hannigan are amazing and the lyrics are equally amazing. They're the kind of lyrics that are a little bit obscure and I guess can be interpreted in slightly different ways. My favourite part of the song... "time is contagious, everybody's getting old" - it's simply beautiful and so true. To me, this song is about choosing to live your life in one of two ways. You can either waste your time hiding away and waiting on other peoples' permission to do the things that you want to do, or you can live your life the way you want to. It's about getting on with things, not worrying about what other people think, living life with no regrets and knowing that everybody doesn't need to know exactly the truth about what you've been up to. So... put some fire up your ass, do what you want to do, and next time someone feels that they need to know what you've been up to, tell them you've been licking coconut skins :)

My Little Boots

We're really into Little Boots right now. James got her mixed up with Little Birdy (who he's not too hot on) so we never listened to Little Boots. The other day though we just started listening and it's really good! It's the "Hands" album we've got, as well as this live version of Remedy on the Later... Live With Jools Holland album.

Music Mondays

Music makes my world go round, almost as much as food does! I've started to really appreciate music and I think that not listening to the radio for a few years has a lot to do with that. Making a real effort this year to explore new music and get out and see more live music (I just wish more bands/artists stopped over in Singapore!) Also, been listening to all the free downloads on Urban Outfitters Music Mondays and they are fricken FANTASTIC! If you are up for listening to some cool new tunes you should definitely check it out - 5 free songs every Monday! Here's one of my favourites... Asobi Seksu - Perfectly Crystal (Beach Fossils/ Spirit Animal Remix).

And also a bit of what I'm listening to at the moment. Old or new, liking right now!

Artists: The Naked And Famous, Arcade Fire, Marina and the Diamonds, Freelance Whales, Adele, Jem, Metronomy, Two Door Cinema Club, The National, Blood Red Shoes, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Ra Ra Riot, Hurts, The Temper Trap, Band Of Skulls.

Skinny Love

I first heard Skinny Love by Bon Ivor awhile ago on "Later Live with Jools Holland" and it was always just one of those songs that came on and it was nice to listen to. But then I came across this version by Birdy and I absolutely love it! It's such a fantastic cover, I play it on repeat and it just sounds like one continuous song that has no beginning or end. Beautiful. Plus the piano really makes me want to play again.
