La Mode Outré Exhibition @ Homey's Cafe

Went to help James set up his exhibition at Homey's Cafe over the weekend. Some shots of the exhibition, the cafe and the food we ordered the other day. I don't know how many burgers I've consumed over the last couple of weeks but I think the beef cheeseburgers at Homey's Cafe are pretty damn good. So are the desserts, we had the apple pie with ice cream and the oreo mascarpone. And to wash it all down, a pot of iced peppermint tea.

Outfit | Love Leather

Oh how I've missed the cold! It's going to make it super hard to go back to Singapore but we don't have to think about that just yet. Right now, just enjoying being able to wear leather boots, jeans, scarves and merino wool knits. Wearing Uniqlo sweater and leather belt, GAP jeans, Comme Ca Ism scarf from Tokyo, leather bag and leather boots from Taipei.

Weekend Fever

Spent Saturday afternoon at a pretty cool bazaar called "Weekend Fever" which is held once a month in Ximending. Really glad we decided to go and it's cool to find things like this and just to know that there is always stuff happening in Taipei. I guess to most people, this is just your typical flea market and how a bazaar should be, but after living in Singapore for two years and constantly being disappointed with how badly flea markets and events turn out there, it's nice to go to something cool and actually be "wow'd" and quite overwhelmed by it all. Nice to see that everything is properly organised, the vendors actually care about the presentation of their stuff even though they are setting up on the ground, and it was nice to be able to pick out lots of people from the stylish crowd to photograph. Will be posting them up on StyleSophomore soon! Some quick snapshots...

A Night at Homey's

We met up with a couple of friends at Homey's Cafe the other night and I've already decided that it is my favourite cafe that we've found here so far! And I'm not only saying that cos James is having an exhibition there soon but it's just a really cool place to hang out. And hang out we did, we reached the cafe at about 6:30pm, ordered some drinks, our friends arrived at 9pm and we were still sitting there at midnight! We're actually going to set up the exhibition today so I'll put some pics up of that soon. I see us spending a lot of time at this place over our last 2 weeks in Taipei!

Cozy Knit Inspiration

Badly in need of some big cozy knits so the next rainy day here in Taipei I'm gonna hunt down a yarn shop and get knitting. God I sound like such a nana but knitting is cool, I like it! It will give me something to do when I'm not in the mood to go out and get photographs in the rain. Gonna start with making some basic sweaters much like the ones below cos I love all of these looks and want them now! I have no idea how to knit a sweater but I guess a good place to start is with some yarn. We'll see how it goes!

Outfit | Circle Scarf

Well it's not really a circle scarf, I kind of pinned it together with a bobby pin and made it into one. It's the scarf I knitted out of a wool/alpaca blend and was actually really cozy and surprisingly not itchy to wear at all. Today was perfect weather, just warm enough to wear a t-shirt and just cool enough to wear a scarf all day. Wearing Cotton On men's tee, GAP jeans and self-made scarf.

Mr. Cat

Stumbled across Mr. Cat cafe while filling in time before meeting a couple of friends at another cafe. I love how in Taipei you never have to look very hard (or very far) for a place just to sit and have coffee, there are so many around you just need to wander down the little back lanes. This one was rather homely, felt like we were sitting in part of someone's house with their two family cats just hanging around the place. Not a huge fan of cats but it was cool to see how they decorated the interior keeping with the theme throughout. Also gave us more ideas of the sort of feel and vibe we want to create with our cafe. Some quick photos thanks to instagram (my favourite photo app at the moment!)...
